Bringing the NAC Back

A “massing model” built by Salvadori educators.

Along with the building materials, each table had a set of plans and pictures that showed the dimensions and elevations of the NAC Plaza as well as a foam-core cut-out in the shape of the Plaza. This cut-out fit into a “massing model” of the Plaza built by the Salvadori educators and would become the base for the model each table would build and present at the end of the day.

The morning consisted of a quick tour of the NAC Plaza before coming back to the table and brainstorming design ideas. Participants not only had to take into account how people moved around the space as well as landscaping, street furniture, and lighting. They also had to think of ways to include and celebrate the cultures of past, present, and future City College students.
