ENTRY 3

Today in class Ms. T. got our photos PHOTO back for us.  She made us double prints so we could write on one copy or cut it up to put on the chart we were going to make.

We took the charts we'd used on the bridge, and made one really big chart because Ms. T. said that we'd have to show it to the whole class. We taped our photos
MOVIE on the chart to show all the different shapes.  Kelly worked on looking up  PHOTO definitions for the shapes and writing them in.

Ms. T. also reminded us to put in where on the bridge we found the shapes.  Richard remembered where we had seen cylinders.  They were attached to the main cable
MOVIE. Then Kelly explained the chart to the class MOVIE.

Now Ms. T. is going to use our chart for our next math lesson.  We've got to decide whether the parts of the bridge we photographed have horizontal symmetry, vertical symmetry, or none at all.  Luis thought we could also fold the pictures to show the symmetries.

When you were on the bridge you made tallies of certain shapes. What do those numbers mean?  Which shapes did you see the most of?
Ms. T.

Then we're going to talk about how the people who made the bridge used shapes to make the bridge look like something Brooklyn would be proud of.
