Kenneth Jones, M.Arch., Executive Director

Kenn Jones started his career as a licensed architect working in New Jersey and New York City.  His career as an educator paralleled his career in architecture where he taught undergraduate courses in studio art, design, and the history of art and design as well as graduate courses in non-profit management.  Kenn has substantial experience with developing project-based curricula, interdisciplinary programs, and adult education/professional development.  He has served as a U.S. Diplomat in the Middle East and as the Executive Director of Peters Valley Craft Education Center and the New York Foundation for Architecture; most recently he was the Curator of Education for the New Jersey State Museum.  Kenn holds a M.Arch. degree from the University of Maryland and post-graduate studies in historic preservation and design as a Rotary Foundation Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.  Using strategic planning and creative problem solving to achieve organizational goals and objectives, Kenn ties together his experiences in education, executive management, and philanthropy ~ an approach he brings to the Salvadori Center.




David McGillan, Deputy Director

David joined the Salvadori Center as Operations Manager in 2010 and changed roles in 2012 to become Development Director. A British native, David settled in New York City and managed four senior centers from 2005 to 2010, after several years working for local government in England and a year spent traveling the world. David graduated with a Master’s in Public Administration, in 2011, from Baruch College, where the United Way of New York City honored him with a Senior Fellowship. In 1997 David received a BA with honors in Creative Writing from the University of Derby in the United Kingdom. David is an active volunteer with Street Soccer USA – helping the homeless develop life skills through soccer.


Malika Khalsa, Education Director

Malika is a Virginia native who moved to New York to attend St. Johns University where she received a degree in Childhood Education. After teaching for a year, Malika became a Child Protective Specialist, investigating allegations of abuse and neglect and ensuring safety for children. Later, Malika went on to work with City Year New York as a Program Manager, Program Director and Senior Program Director, managing different levels of staff whose goal was to provide academic tutoring and mentorship to students in under-resourced schools. Malika joined Salvadori Center recently as the Education Director.


Mei-Ling Poon, Financial Officer

Mei-Ling joined the Salvadori Center in the Summer of 2014. Prior to The Salvadori Center, she worked as an Accounting Manager, Controller and Business Manager for private and not-for-profit organizations. Included among her past financial positions have been entities involved in creative works, religious facilities with pre-school operations, and out of school programs for grade schools. She can identify and provide corrective action for any internal problems of accounting procedures, and for weaknesses of database program links to the internal accounting system. She has been engaged to lead accounting remediation projects. She has also volunteered in a charity kitchen serving homeless people. Mei-Ling has a BA in Accounting from San Francisco University in California, completed Finance Management and Budget courses at Bernard Baruch College, and Computer Database Program Courses at Columbia University in New York City.


Richa Sadana, Development Coordinator

Richa joined the Salvadori Center in October 2016 as a Development Assistant. Prior to Salvadori Center, Richa worked in government institutions/non-profits, dedicated to humanitarian relief, development and education, handling event management logistics, system management and communications. She also worked in production for three years in the Indian news broadcasting industry producing news stories on political, health care and educational issues. Richa holds a Masters in Global Affairs from New York University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism from SACAC (India).


Jessica Guice, Social Media & Content Designer

Jessica moved to New York City in the summer of 2018 to become a success coach for underserved students as an AmeriCorps Member at City Year. Jessica has a vast range of experience in marketing, public relations, and communications, in fields as varied as dentistry, public health, and education. In 2018, she graduated with a Bachelors of Art in Communication and Marketing from the University of Toledo. During her free time, Jessica enjoys traveling, painting, scrapbooking, and spending time in the park. She is creative, has a passion for giving, and is delighted to be part of the Salvadori Center.


Julianne Geary, Materials & Supplies Preparator

Julianne is currently a student of architecture at The City College of New York. Throughout her childhood she always had an inquisitive nature paired with an instinctive ability for the arts, math and science. This blend culminated in her interest in pursuing architecture as well as maintaining a general enthusiasm for the sciences. During the summer of 2011 she worked as an intern at Terreform ONE + Planetary ONE, a research based architectural and design firm. She worked primarily on materials exploration resulting in an imaginative inquiry into the possibilities of the architectural retrofit, a case study of the Brooklyn Navy Yards. Julianne joined the Salvadori Center in October of 2014 as the Materials and Supplies Preparator.


Richie Tamacas, Materials & Supplies Preparator

A New York native, Richie served in the Marine Corp from 2002 to 2011 with deployments with to Afghanistan and Iraq as a medical corpsman. During this time he graduated with a B.A. in clinical and forensic psychology from the American Military University. After leaving the military, he expanded his knowledge, taking electrical and carpentry courses at Apex Technical School. Richie also studied for a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages at City College. He served as a volunteer for three months in Ecuador, helping rebuild after the earthquake of 2016. In his free time, Richie enjoys being creative, making crafts out of refurbished wood in his shop. He joined the Salvadori Center as a Preparator in December 2015.


Alatz Ortega, Materials & Supplies Preparator

Alatz Ortega, a Guatemalan-born New York native, joined the Salvadori Center in March of 2018 as a Materials and Supplies Preparator. During this time, Alatz completed his Bachelor in Fine Arts at The Cooper Union School of Art and become a member of Salvadori’s full time staff. Before Salvadori, Alatz served as an Assistant Educator at The International Center of Photography teaching analog and digital photography to New York high school students. His passion for hands-on learning comes from his personal struggle with learning disabilities.


Meredith Finnerty, Office Manager

Meredith Finnerty, a native New Yorker raised in small town Massachusetts, followed her lifelong passion for psychology to City College as a late-blooming undergrad, earning her Bachelor of Arts nine days before becoming a first-time parent in 2005. A decade plus away from the corporate world – where her administrative and people skills had culminated in a long stint at an executive search firm – commenced, during which she delved into property management and became a birth doula. In her spare time she reads horror novels and goes on distance walks, though not at the same time, and writes about her adventures on New York City public transit. Motherhood has unsurprisingly increased her awareness of the profound importance of education, and she is thrilled to be part of the Salvadori Center and its mission.




Andrew Coletti

Originally from Connecticut, Andrew Coletti has lived in Brooklyn since 2013. He holds a Bachelors in Classics from Bard College and a Masters in Museum Education from Bank Street College of Education. Before joining Salvadori Center, Andrew taught school programs in museums, including Brooklyn Historical Society, Museum of the City of New York and Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. When he’s not teaching kids, Andrew also teaches adults at the Brooklyn Brainery and other venues, giving lectures on ancient history and the history of food (with samples). He writes a blog about the food of the ancient world and recently published his first novel.


Sally Feng

Sally is originally from Chicago and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduation, she lived in the Philippines to conduct research on coral reef restoration while promoting marine conservation. Since then, she has been empowering youth as an environmental educator at Wahsega 4-H Center and at Hudson River Park. Sally is a happy environmentalist living a zero waste lifestyle and hammocking in her free time.


Emiliano Maghallighen

Emiliano Maghallighen was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to New York to study at City College. He received a BS in Architecture in 2004 and joined Gensler as a job captain where he helped design retail stores including Apple, Victoria’s Secret and Gap. While teaching at the Guggenheim museum and interning at the Museum of Modern Art, Emiliano became interested in education and the arts. In 2009 he joined Organizacion Tepeyac, a non-profit organization that provides after school programs, adult education, and immigrant advocacy to Mexicans in New York.


Lauren McIntyre

Lauren graduated from Hartwick College in 2011 and obtained a BA in Sociology and her NYS teaching certificate. In May 2017, she graduated from SUNY Albany and completed her MS in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology. Prior to the Salvadori Center, Lauren worked in public schools and taught math and science after school programs. In her spare time, she develops and presents hands on art and science programs to students at libraries throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties of Long Island.


Roxanne Mejia

Roxanne was born in New York City and grew up in Queens, NY. As a child, she always had an interest in art and design. In 2006, she received her BFA in Architecture from Parsons The New School for Design, moving on to work in the design and construction industries. In July of 2010 she joined the Salvadori Center full-time to manage an after-school program in New York City Housing Authority community centers across the 5 boroughs. Currently, Roxanne serves as an Educator and helps develop new curricula for Salvadori.


Nina Romova

Nina Romova moved to NYC from Moscow, Russia in 2003. She graduated from Fordham University in 2013 with a B.A. in International Studies and Anthropology. Before joining the Salvadori Center, Nina led tours, family workshops and school programs at the Prospect Park Zoo, the American Museum of Natural History, New York Transit Museum, Lower East Side Tenement Museum and Brooklyn Historical Society. In her free time she creates mosaics and collages.


Theresa Taylor

Theresa is from Pennsylvania and studied early childhood education. Prior to working for Salvadori, Theresa worked for nonprofit organizations providing monthly nutrition education in multiple schools for classrooms for grades Kindergarten through 9th grade, putting together creative nutrition game shows for school assemblies and also participating in a variety of community nutrition programs. Theresa was also a coordinator for Kids Café, an afterschool program that provided assistance with homework, nutritious dinner and fun activities for over 190 children. Theresa is passionate about making a difference by encouraging and motivating others. In her free time, she volunteers as a head coach for mini cheerleading and loves spending time with her friends and family.


Cindy Gue

Cindy is a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology, and holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Health, Behavioral, and Political Sciences. The two years prior to joining the Salvadori team initially in the spring of 2013, Cindy worked to a similar capacity with another nonprofit organization, doing pro-bono curriculum design and instruction that served students from low performing schools in low-income communities. Cindy also spent two of her final undergraduate summers teaching basic engineering concepts and serving as an administrator of a national program for 3-5th grade students, with the mission of increasing the numbers of minorities pursuing STEM-related majors. Cindy currently serves the Salvadori Center as an Educator in Scranton, PA.


Juliana Wong

Juliana grew up in London, UK where she received her BA Honors in Interior Design at Kingston University. She moved to Hong Kong and designed for Ronald Lu & Partners on a wide range of commercial and residential projects before joining Goudie Associates as Senior Designer on the expansion offices for Credit Suisse. Settling in New York City, she worked for Lowery Design and then as an Educator for the Brooklyn Center of Urban Environment. Juliana concurrently trained with the DOE as a parent advocate for the School Base Support Team, and furthered her interest in how children learn through project-based learning whilst being an active parent volunteer at NEST+M, one of the first K-12 grade seamless public schools in NYC. She holds a Certificate in TEFL, Diplome de Langue Francais and in Danielson’s Competencies. Juliana joined the Salvadori Center staff in 2009 where she has been writing and developing curricula, leading professional development, mentoring and teaching in Salvadori programs across all five boroughs as a Senior Educator.
