Our Approach

Our approach involves providing project-based learning programs that embody the Chancellors priorities, match grade-specific curricula, and improve student learning results.

Salvadori embodies the Chancellor’s Priorities:

Giving students Bright Starts through:

  • culturally responsive curricula where students see themselves in what they are learning

  • increasing students’ literacy with math and science

  • helping students develop confidence in their ability to succeed in math and science careers

  • teaching 21st century skills

  • providing project-based lessons based on real-world experiences

Salvadori curricula are grade specific and align with:

  • Common Core Standards (in applicable states)

  • Next Generation Math and Science Standards

  • NYC Department of Education Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts

  • Amplify Science principles

Project-Based Learning (PBL):

  • Rigorous: an inter-disciplinary approach using a variety of knowledge

  • Relevant: experimental and experiential; making connections through doing

  • Real-world: ties everyday challenges to practical learning experiences

8 years of independent assessments found statistically significant gains in Salvadori students’:

  • Confidence in their math and science ability

  • Motivation to pursue STEM and STEAM education and careers

  • Understanding of the scientific inquiry process

  • Comprehension of grade-specific learning objectives
